Olympic Games and Moonlight Paddle | July 3
As part of McCormick County’s all week celebration of the 4th of July, an Olympic Games and Moonlight Paddle will be held at 7pm at Baker Creek Park ON THE 3RD OF JULY. These two activities are being held under the distinguished flagship of the Thurmond Lake Sail & Power Squadron. Be prepared for lots of laughter and fun as we form teams to compete in such events as the:
| • |
|
20 Stroke Backward paddle with a twist |
| • |
|
Triple twist up and back |
| • |
|
Toss the grungie partner race |
and other exotic Olympic competitions.
The Power Squadron will have several kayaks (with life vests and whistles) available at the site for those of you who want to join the fun but don’t have a kayak. A $10 donation is suggested. These loaner kayaks will be assigned on a first-come-first-serve basis as registration forms are received.
Registration Form and a Risk & Responsibility & Release of Liability Form are required for participation. Please copy and paste the registration information and send it to the Power Squadron at: info@TLSPS.org. Print out one release form for each person who is participating, and bring it with you. We will also have extra copies on site.
Please note:
| • |
|
There is a $2 fee for the use of the Baker Creek Park boat ramp. |
| • |
|
Our alternate bad weather date is Friday, July 6, same time, same place |
| • |
|
This event was originally scheduled for July 4 and some of the publicity out there still has that date. But if you come on the 4th instead of the 3rd, you will have "missed the boat". |
