McCormick Arts Council at the Keturah

 


The following is what is going on at the McCormick Arts Council at the Keturah (MACK) for the next few weeks.  To sign up for a class or reserve your ticket/seat for an event, call the MACK at 864-852-3216.


July Read and Feed
- The book to be read and discussed this month’s Read and Feed is Olive Kitteridge by Elizabeth Strout.  The Read and Feed will be held on Thursday, July 26 at 6:00 p.m.  The hostess for this month is Kitty Butler.  This is always a fun event.  After a meal prepared by the MACK and Hosts, there will be a discussion about the book.   Contact the MACK to make reservations as space is limited for this event.  Cost is $15 per person.

McCormick Market - The McCormick Market will be in the park behind the MACK on Saturday, July 21 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m.  There is nothing better than fresh produce and shrimp.  Along with this, you will find grass fed meat and other items for sale.  Mark this on your calendar.  The vendors won’t be back again until August 4.


Art Reception for Summer Camp Participants
- The Reception for the August Exhibit of Summer Camp Art will be held on Friday, August 3 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.  Plan to come see the art created by our local youth during the summer.  They have had a wonderful time at the MACK Summer Camps and want to share it with you.  This is a great opportunity to support and encourage the young people of the region to continue to learn and appreciate art.  This event is free.


PaddleMACK
- Mark your calendars for this “Art in the Outdoors” event.  The PaddleMACK will be a Kayak event taking place at Baker Creek Park the morning of September 3, 2012.  This fund raiser put together with the Little River Blueway will be tons of fun for the entire family so don’t miss it!  More information on this event will be provided soon.


Dinner with the Masters -
The very popular Dinner with the Masters fine dining event is coming up soon.  On September 21, we will be dining with O’Keefe.  As with all the other Dinners with the Masters, we will be enjoying an excellent meal under the stars.  After the meal, there will be a short lecture about Georgia O’Keefe.  Tickets will be available soon for this event.  Cost for this wonderful dinner is $25 for members and $30 for non-members.


March For The MACK
- The MACK is holding it’s 2nd Annual 4K Run/Walk on Saturday, October 20.  Now is the time to put this event on your calendar for October.  Get your family and friends to put it on their calendar too.   What better way to have fun and get some exercise too.  We want to fill the streets with participants this year!  Registration will begin at 8:30 a.m. with the Run/Walk starting at 9:00 a.m.  Advance Registration (which must be received by October 13 is encouraged.  The fee to participate for advance registration is $10.  Registration fee the day of the run/walk will be $12.  Join us for this event which will begin and end in the Park behind the MACK in McCormick.  There will be awards for males and females in the various age groups as well as an award for the person with the most monetary sponsorships.  All proceeds will benefit the MACK and it’s programs.  The registration forms are currently available at the MACK and McCormick Chamber of Commerce.  You may also print out the registration and sponsorship forms from our website bulletin board. 

Art Classes at the MACK are currently being scheduled for this fall.  This information will be published very soon.  We have wonderful artists who offer classes in Watercolor, Acrylic and Oil painting.  We currently also have Drawing, Pottery and Photography classes that will be offered in the near future.

Art Works! This is a group of painters that get together each Tuesday and Thursday at the MACK to paint.  They have a great time while working on their current paintings.  They welcome new people to this group so come join them if you like painting!Time 1:00 - 3:30 p.m.

Monthly Fee:  $15 due with form on the first meeting day of the month.

Participants are welcome and encouraged to schedule group meetings.
